Consultant
I graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin, and I am currently completing a PhD in Energy Engineering, also at the Polytechnic. In recent years, my research has mainly focused on the planning of local energy systems, developing optimisation models to support decision-making processes. At the same time, I have also explored the topic of transport, conducting life cycle impact analyses of fuel supply chains and alternative means of transportation. I have a passion for data analysis and strive to make it the foundation of every study and research activity.
What exactly do you work on at Decisio?
My main role at Decisio is data analysis aimed at the socio-economic characterization of the territory, examined through the lens of mobility. With this statistical foundation, we lay the groundwork for assessing the impact of alternative transport systems—such as cycling—on the environment and public health.
What is the request you get the most often from your colleagues?
“Hi Lorenzo, did you forget to fill out <important document X>?”
And besides work?
I enjoy reading and sleeping. I’m not a big fan of sports, and I only engage in them when I have to. Whenever I can, I set aside some time for volunteering, preparing and delivering environmental awareness lessons in schools.
A project of which you are particularly fond?
I have only recently arrived, so I haven’t had time to grow attached to a specific project. However, I was impressed by some studies conducted in the past, such as the cycling plan of the Metropolitan City of Milan (Cambio), which I found remarkable in terms of its scale, attention to detail, and statistical characterization of the territory.
“Working at Decisio” in one word
Healthy.
Even though I have only been here for a short time, I can confidently say that this is a healthy workplace. I am surrounded by people who are genuinely passionate about sustainability in all its forms and who seem to have chosen this place over others because they feel they can make a meaningful contribution here. Yet, they always prioritise human values over work-related matters.
