Bikenomicsgame

Cycling offers numerous benefits—it’s inexpensive, healthy, sustainable, time-efficient, and socially inclusive. Yet, convincing decisionmakers and/or communities to invest in safe bike infrastructure remains challenging. At this year’s National Bike Summit in Washington D.C., Decisio launched the Bikenomics Game, a new interactive mobility session (2 × 60 minutes) designed to change that conversation.

The game consists of two parts:

Part 1 – Eye openers quiz

A fast paced Q&A game that confronts participants with surprising facts and figures about cycling, mobility, and economic impacts. The eye-openers are methodically grounded in Social Cost Benefits Analysis (SCBA) specifically designed to incorporate cycling (and supported as a tool by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Waterways in the Netherlands). In this Background document Bikenomics Game – Facts and Eyeopeners participants can read more about theory and methodology of bikenomics and SCBA.

Part 2 – Role play the city

Participants step into the shoes of key stakeholders in a fictional town—such as parents with children, public transport agencies, or small business owners—and present their vision for a new mobility plan from that specific perspective.
